Socrates Sculpture Park
Artists Nicolás Dumit Estévez Raful Espejo Ovalles Morel Atrib and Mónica Palma come together for a communal participatory gathering centered on Tierra/Earth—as soil, land, mud, humus, memory, and connection.
Nicolás will facilitate a story circle drawing from Restorative Justice and Healing Circle practices, while Mónica will guide participants in co-sculpting a collective object from earth, seeds, small rocks, and respectfully gathered fallen leaves. The evolving object will function as an organic “talking stick,” guiding moments of storytelling, listening, and silence as the group moves together through memories of past, present, and future.
The event is part of Cuerpxs en Resonancia, a three-part bilingual series of participatory performances, communal rituals, workshops, and artistic offerings organized by MexFest, curated by Arantxa Araujo and Xtian Ávila, and hosted by Socrates Sculpture Park during Hispanic Heritage Month.
The series brings together Mexican artists and artists from across the Latinx diaspora to explore the physical, cognitive, and energetic dimensions of the body through movement, sound, storytelling, visual art, and collective care.
